This is a true & funny story written for ladies - written by a man. (Sorry guys..I'm
about to tell women how you think, but I promise, you'll thank me later).
If ladies understand My Dog Clyde, they'll get a better understanding of the
males of all species, especially men (yes I admit it, it applies to all the guys,
including me).
About 15 years ago I had a beautiful dalmatian named Clyde.
I received a phone call from a couple with a female. They were looking for a
nice male dalmatian for stud service. I said "Yes, Clyde is available" (I charge
$300 and Clyde has a good time - I smile, I even think I see Clyde smiling).
So the couple comes over the next day with their dog, a sweet female
dalmatian, with a very nice disposition. She would lick your hand and sit at your
feet. A friendly, wagging tail kind of dog.
They wanted to see Clyde first (there are pretty dalmatians and ugly ones too),
see his papers ask about previous litter size etc. So we sat with them and
explained the details (they were like a teenage girls parents, wanting to know a
boy's plans for the future before he could take her daughter out) that they
wanted to know regarding Clyde.
After they were comfortable and everything was agreed on, I went out to my
backyard and pet Clyde to calm him down as he was very protective of the
family and he saw a strange dog inside the house with people he'd never seen
before (He saw us through the sliding glass door). So I chained him to a fence
with about a 10 foot span of roaming room. He seemed fine after a minute or
so. Next I took the chain from the couple and brought the female dog out.
Clyde immediately started barking and the closer we came to Clyde, the more
aggressive he became toward the other dog. The female was very obviously
cowering and didn't even want to walk - she just wanted to sit down.
The couple started getting nervous, saying "maybe this isn't such a good idea"
But I assured them it would be fine. I took the female and tied her leash to a
spot where she was about 5 feet out of Clyde's reach. Clyde barked and
barked very aggressively showing his teeth to her as she sat meekly, obviously
very scared.
I next went into the house with my wife and the other couple. I told them to just
sit tight and as soon as the female would pee, everything would be okay. Clyde
barked for what seemed like a half hour. Then it happened. She peed. In
about 30 seconds Clyde stopped barking. He smelled a female in heat . 30
seconds later Clyde's tail was wagging so fast, we thought it was breaking the
sound barrier.
I waited about 5 minutes, thinking his tail would get tired (I was wrong). The
female just sat there, no longer scared. I let them both loose. Clyde went right
to her, and she snapped at him (not biting him) and then walked away, Clyde
went up to her again, she snapped again and walked away more confident than
the first time. (When the female becomes aggressive toward the male it means
she isn't ready yet.)
Clyde followed that dog for hours, taking the snaps and aggression from her
without complaint or aggression from him, not letting her get more than a couple
of feet away before he would playfully try to get next to her again.
It reached the point where he was actually whining and crying (which my wife
thought was hilarious) until she let him touch her hours later. About 2 months
later 10 beautiful pups!
The moral of this true story:
1) Ladies, empower yourselves. You have more control of getting what you
want than you think you do.
2) Guys are just like Clyde, they can be show their teeth until they know they
have to be nice, to get what they want
3) They'll take snaps and aggression if they'll get something good at the end
4) They'll follow you around non stop if they will get something good at the end
